Character Info
Name: Jack Atlas
Canon: Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's
Canon Point: Post-Dark Signer arc
Age: 19
History: Wikia
Personality:

Jack is a selfish individual, born more of his own tunnel vision and desire to leave the slums of Satellite City than of any actual malice; he saw the only means of living the life he wanted was to leave, and with immigration between the two cities not an option he did something cruel. In pursuit of his dreams, Jack was willing to throw away everything--his friends, his family--and outright betray the people closest to him. All this for him to be King, the grand champion duelist of Neo Domino City. Jack lived the pampered, praised lifestyle he had always dreamed of; until he loses his throne.

Jack's dueling style revolves around applying pressure with sheer power, and that reflects his personality in a lot of aspects. Jack is not a subtle individual; he's punched people to make a point. He is straight forward and often abrasive, with virtually no sense of humour. It makes it easy to offend him with poor wording, and equally easy to manipulate him with promises of him getting what he wants in some fashion that's easier than changing himself.

While Jack is mostly a stationary person thanks to his stubborn personality, he does learn from his mistakes; he just has to make them several times first. Once Jack's lost and made amends he decides to change his ways and become a true duelist worthy of the title of King. Unfortunately, as much as Jack is trying to change himself, and as often as he tells Yusei that he's the one who never changes, it's Jack who's often fighting harder just to stay the way he is. He often makes things harder on himself, but he is learning. He becomes quite loyal to his friends in his own unique way, willing to help and work with them, but often his stubborn nature makes things more difficult than they have to be.

It's these aspects of Jack's personality that often get him in the most trouble. He likes to do things himself, in his own way, with no compromising. This leads to him taking a beating in duels because he refuses to change his strategy. More than once Jack has lost or made a tag-team duel harder on his teammates because he refuses to back down. Instead of accepting the fault in his methods, he'll get more and more careless, recklessly surging forward in hopes that it will eventually work. It leads to money trouble too, with Jack often being unwilling to budget properly now that he's not rich and famous anymore. Sometimes, sometimes he can be talked into cooperating, but it's easy to fall back into old bad habits. At the very least, he'll come through in the end, though the damage has often already been done and he's only avoided the worst of the consequences.

While Jack will seldom admit people are his friends unless it's something that truly needs saying, he still believes in the bonds his friends share with him. He has come to understand again just how important family is, and while he's still abrasive and terrible at handling social situations, he at least has a soft spot for younger fans and children in general, often humouring them, even if he's never playful. He just needs to work on everything else.
